Angel’s birthday is December 3rd (which would make him 7 this year.) Considering money has been really tight this year, I find it a bit difficult to try to make a distinction with buying his Birthday presents versus Christmas presents. With me being divorced, Angel gets twice the Birthday party and twice the Holiday celebration.
While I grew up, I never had this issue as my birthday falls in September. My younger sisters also did not have birthdays anywhere close to Christmas.
Toys are never the issue, but usually clothing is where I have a problem choosing which occasion to give him those.
1. Do I split the clothes and give half for his birthday and the other for Christmas?
2. Do I give all the clothes on just one occasion?
All of his clothes have the characters he likes or the colors he likes to wear. He is pretty easy to please. This might seem like a dumb ordeal, but I would like to know how other mothers decide on issues like this for their children who may have a birthday near Christmas time.

I do not have any kids, but since my birthday is very close to Christmas (Christmas eve to be precise), I do know that when money was tight, my Christmas list became my birthday list as well, and half of it was given to me on my birthday and half on Christmas.

Well, that does help a bit. I probably will not split everything in half, but possibly leave the majority for Christmas. His father is already giving him a huge bday party, and since he and I are more amiable, I am going to do.
Wow… Christmas eve. That is pretty cool.

I’m not a mom, but my birthday is about as far from Christmas as your son’s birthday (January 15). My Christmas list was also my birthday list, and my mom just kind of split it. It helped that I had a sibling, so we always got about equal for Christmas, and then my mom gave me less for my birthday. Also, with clothes my mom usually saved more of those for my birthday, because it was more exciting to open toys for Christmas, especially since that’s what my sister mostly got.
